Forest

The pupils created over 200 drawings, paintings and collages relating the anticipation and anxiety of changing school to the seasonal changes occurring in the park. Mark selected elements from each person's work to create five theme montages, Forest, Stars & Planets, Utopia, Self Portraits and Signature map.

Since graduating in 1988 Mark has exhibited regularly, developing a working method of mixing traditional sculpting techniques; modern materials and skills learnt as a special effects model maker. Mark sculpts forms of natural elements such as fire, smoke, clouds and waves. These models are then cast in a translucent resin that is internally lit. The works are often placed in familiar surroundings or attached to household objects.

Mark is fascinated by scientific discoveries that help explain the the universe, his inspiration comes from a desire to illustrate the cohesion of what we see and understand. At present Mark is working on several projects and collaborations, these include a 3D-computer animation and exploring the patterns in a collection of leafs from Guy Street Park.
